Insight On Current Priorities In Pro-Model Promotion From A Dude With Multiple Face Tattoos

Under the eyebrows, but:
“…[T]he amount of innocent things that are translated wrong through Instagram or Facebook… It’s annoying. There are people who know where you are when you don’t want them to know where you are. Add to that the fact that I’m being told by people that I’m blowing it and losing out on board royalties and shoe royalties because of not being on the stuff? That makes me sick. That, in skateboarding, you’re hurting yourself by choosing not to spend more time stuck behind a computer. That just doesn’t make sense. Just talk to a kid when you’re out skating, and they buy your board, you know? I’ll talk to anyone who comes up to me at a park, but I don’t want to get sucked into Facebook.”

I agree with Gravette and his point is well taken, because less skating and more time on social media is not going to help in the long run. I’m not on twitter/facebook/instagram/myspace, since those are nothing but pleas for people to notice and/or like you. Hell, I didn’t even bother to get another cellphone when mine was stolen back in 2007.

This is a wise man. It brings me warmth to read something like this though troubling to know that he’s in the minority and the percentages of good people or likable things about skateboarding are dwindling. No? Am I too pessimistic?

  3. Jonathan Says:

Why would anyone follow a professional skater on Tiwtter/Instagram? Are you that curious as to what they eat for lunch?

  4. george Says:

Gravette should take solace in that there will always be room in skating for people like him. There’s an audience for the anti-Dew tour types for sure. Just might not be as lucrative.

Instagram has only showed me that looking up to most pro skaters was a mistake. Look at Chauncey, some of the best style out and a fucking instageek.

    What’s this?

  7. Anonymous Says:

It is some geek shit. Remember when skateboarders were some dirty renegade types…days when Jason Jessee answered all his Check Out questions with quips about Blag Flag, Neil Blender kept you in the dark, Gino played street ninja, Natas didn’t want to be pro, and the Gonzo like now just never gives you quite enough.

    Now we have insta nation

  8. Mike Says:

Dig the Gravette quote and his approach, also the opportunity for a bunch of dudes to give the modern day “I don’t even OWN a TV” response.

  9. Gon Says:

Its lame as fuck but people dig the whole tumblr/Instagram/cry for attention deal, just look at dudes like Alex Olson, people eat that shit up. They’re getting something but they’re really not getting anything.

dude a phones kinda necessary in this day n age. smartphone? no. why im proudly flip phonin it ha. KILLS the game w the ladies but w/e some appreciate it
i HATE fb/instagram/twiiter etc….and tumblr is mostly a degenerate wasteland, but there’s some gems and i do find some incredible pics on there to paint n shit.

…i think the internets fucking everything up. awesome, but fuckn it all up. like in the 70’s if you liked getting off by attaching cables to your fuckn balls, sure you might of done it by yourself, but for the most part you were weird and knew it. now you can find and meet up w thousands of people who do the same thing and it’s ‘what makes us happy so get off it’ which makes a crazy grey line.

like i just read about a german dude who put an ad the internet and killd n ate someone willingly…….WTF

In fact, the statistics are even rising in some areas, as opposed to the downward trend in other
head and neck cancers that are usually associated with smoking and drinking alcohol.
But if you suffer from heartburn more than once a week then you should
seriously consider taking preventative measures before your condition becomes chronic.
So after using what I know helps, and a few other remedies I stumbled
upon, I have a little collection of natural ways to soothe and hopefully get rid of that nasty sore throat.
